    (1) Machinery and equipment – sewing machines, over locking machin    zig  zag   machines, etc

 (2) Tools.

     3. Knowledge of fabrics, trimmings and accessories used and their availability in                  the market.

     4.Study of human body , eight head theory.

     5.Measurement techniques, standard measurement charts for children, ladies, gents, etc.

6. Human figures –types.

     7.Trade terminology.

     8.Drafting.

     9.Paper pattern cutting.

    10.Handling and preparing different fabrics according to their types.

    11.Method of cutting garments and stitching.

12.Estimate for garments of different sizes:

  1. Cloth in different widths,

b.Accessories.

13.Trial of a garment:

  1. Setting up of a trial room,

(B)PRACTICAL TASKS

(Practice of hand stitches used in Tailoring ,such as, Basting, Running, Over casting, Half back stitch, herring bone, Back stitch, Padding of quilting, Fine stitch, Marking , Tacking , etc.

  1. Practice of making Hems:

Sniffle ,flat , souble stitched flat, French & piped hems, etc.

  1. Practice of seams:

Single ,flat, double stitched flat, French & piped seams, etc.

  1. Practice of seam finished, pressed open, overcasted , self bound, bias bound , bias bounded and pinked edges , etc.

  2. Practice of seam finished, pin, corded, graduated, cross tucks, etc.

  3. Making pleats, knife, box, inverted and kilting of pleats, etc.

  4. Type of darts-half, full, slash, pivot, fish dart, etc.

  5. Practice of Button holes:

Worked button holes, for shirt, pant and coat Bound button holed one piece, two pieces etc.

  1. Practice of corners- turned , trimmed, binded etc.

  2. Practice of making pockets in garments ,such as : straight, slanting, welf curved and patch pockets, single and double bone pockets with flap.

  3. Cutting bias strips and joining , practice of binding edges- straight , round ,corner shaped scallops, etc.

  4. Practice of setting gathers, smocking on gathers and sheering on gathers.

  5. Practice of making collars and cuffs with stiffing and trimming etc.

  6. Practice of drafting on Melton cloth and patterns , drafting of

Bodies, blocks (upper body of lower body) for men’s, ladies and children (all size) with the help of measurement chart.

  10. Gents kurta , pyjama;
